I've always been fascinated with letterforms and typography but never imagined that it could become such a big part of my adult life. I recall rewriting entire essays in the third grade, just so they could be submitted in a different "font." 

After a long interlude, I rediscovered my love of lettering and indulged by doodling all over my MBA class notes. Since then, I have taught myself both modern calligraphy and copperplate calligraphy, reveling in the shapes and flourishes of each letter. Nowadays, Designs by Ellen is an NYC calligraphy studio offering custom wedding invitations, personal stationery and event calligraphy.

When not calligraphing, I can be found running, making jewelry or partaking in fun, new DIY projects. (Scented candle, anyone?)
